FBISE Rechecking of Answer Scripts

In the late 1990s, during our matriculation and intermediate years, the concept of paper rechecking or any similar process was completely unknown. However, in today’s digital technology and AI era, students are more informed about their rights and the procedures available to them.

Paper rechecking or recounting has become recognized as the entitlement of every student. If a student believes that marks have been unfairly awarded or deducted without justification, they can request a review of their paper. This allows for a thorough re-visiting of the marked paper, ensuring fairness in assessment. It’s important to clarify that paper rechecking does not mean a complete reevaluation; rather, it is a recount or reassessment of the marks.

FBISE Rechecking Fee

  1. Applications for rechecking must be submitted within 30 days of the result declaration.
  2. FBISE Rechecking Fee is PKR 1500/- per paper.
  3. However, this fee is refundable to candidates in cases where a discrepancy is found in the paper.

What is discrepancy?

When a student applies for rechecking, it indicates a lack of trust in the board’s marking or marking criteria, suggesting that they believe they have been awarded fewer marks than deserved. If, upon revisiting the student’s answer script, the paper checker discovers that the student was correct and their marks were wrongly deducted or miscalculated, that is called discrepancy. A rechecking committee then awards corrected marks. In such cases, the student is entitled to a full refund of the rechecking fee for that specific paper, per FBISE rules.

FBISE Rechecking Form

Before the introduction of online services, students had the option to access a manual rechecking form either from the One Window Cell of FBISE or through the website. However, in the pursuit of transparency, the manual process has been replaced with an online procedure.

To initiate the rechecking process, visit the FBISE Online Services tab and navigate to the Rechecking Application tab. Once there, a form will be presented to you. Complete the form with your details, including subjects you want to have rechecked or recounted. Here is how new portal looks like;

Ensure that you provide a valid and complete address along with your mobile number. This information is crucial as you will receive correspondence regarding the final status of your rechecking case via letter and SMS.

Next, proceed to generate the challan for the rechecking fee. If, for example, you wish to have two papers rechecked, input the total amount (e.g., 3000 PKR) for both papers combined. Generate a single challan for the total amount; there’s no need to create separate challans for each subject.

Once you have the challan number, input it into the rechecking form and submit it. You can settle the challan payment at any branch of HBL or MCB, or through online payment methods.

FBISE Rechecking Tracking

Upon submission of the application, a tracking number will be provided on your screen. Be sure to note it down and save it for future reference.

You can monitor the status of your rechecking application through the FBISE online services portal using this tracking number.

Make sure the payment of the fee is at the earliest. FBISE will start processing your application only after confirmation of fee payment from the bank. Failure to do so will result in your application remaining pending, resultantly surpassing the 30 days.

Improved Marksheet

Once you receive a discrepancy letter from FBISE, indicating a correction in your marks, you can request a revised mark sheet reflecting the improved marks.
