BSEK Karachi (Board of Secondary Education Karachi)
Board of Secondary Education Karachi is one of the oldest education boards in Pakistan. Established in 1950, three years after the partition. Before that University of Karachi was authorized to hold an examination in Karachi. Later on when the board was established the University of Karachi handed over the responsibility to hold examinations at the Matric level in Karachi and surrounding cities like Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Larkana. It was the only education board at that time that conducted examinations in Sindh province, and Lahore Board was the only education board in Punjab province.
The 1st examination of Matric was held in 1951 when only 1461 candidates appeared in the Board exam. Unlike other boards of education in Pakistan, Karachi has 02 separate education boards. One is for only Matric (SSC) and the other one is for Intermediate (HSSC) which is called BIE Karachi.
